Cucumber Bites with Caviar – Ready in Ten Minutes
Sometimes things need to happen fast, and nobody should be able to tell. This is the bite for those evenings. The cucumber brings freshness and crunch, the cream calms everything down, the caviar makes the entrance. Ten minutes of work, no pan, no oven.
Ingredients for about 16 bites
- 1 cucumber or 2 small snack cucumbers
- 150 g crème fraîche
- a few sprigs of dill, finely chopped
- a little lemon zest
- 30–50 g caviar – our Red Pearl looks wonderful here
How it's done
Wash the cucumber and cut it into slices about one centimetre thick. Don't peel it – the skin gives structure and colour. Lay the slices on kitchen paper so the cut surfaces dry off; cream slides straight off a wet cucumber.
Stir the crème fraîche with the dill and lemon zest. No salt – the caviar takes care of that.
Place a small dollop of cream on each slice, either with two teaspoons or, if you like it tidy, with a piping bag. Add the caviar just before serving.
Our tip
The cucumber slices and the cream can be prepared separately and kept chilled. Assemble only when the doorbell rings. Everything stays fresh, and you're not stuck in the kitchen while your guests sit in the living room.
